The City of Mississauga is situated on the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
Statement from Ringette Ontario Executive Director, Karla Xavier
We are committed to building and strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities across the province, and supporting an Indigenous artist, who is also a young woman, was a powerful way to reflect that commitment.
Symbolism
Feathers: These are eagle feathers, which are a sacred symbol to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and featured on their flag. The feathers form a maple leaf shape, tying in the Ringette Ontario logo.
Artistic Style: The logo design is inspired by Indigenous woodland art, which uses bold linework and shapes.
